A Jewish Children's Songbook, in English
Jewish songs, made for children to sing, in a language they understand.
What this is
A long-term, collaborative project: Jewish children's songs in English. Songs for the holidays. Songs for singing in synagogue and yeshiva. And songs that carry a lesson. The aim is simple and large, a modern, singable body of Jewish songs in English that children anywhere in the world can sing.
The songs so far
Dreidel
Happy Purim!
Shavuot
Hanukkah
Hold On (Kid's Version)
We Are Sisters We Are Brothers
Pesach-Passover
Chiribim Chiribom
Each cover opens the song in the full catalog, where every video lives exactly once.
More than a dozen Jewish children's songs in English are already finished, with real young audiences. This is a foundation to build on.
The songbook
We are growing a collaborative Jewish children's songbook, toward a target of twenty-five to thirty songs. I write and contribute my own, and I convene others.
Join us
I propose to build and grow this songbook through the community of the Jewish Writers' Initiative, and with everyone who works with Jewish children.
If you are a writer or composer with children's songs, send them our way. If you are a teacher, a song-leader, a cantor, or a parent, take these songs, learn them, and sing them with your children. We write together, rehearse together, and try the songs in real gatherings, and we keep the songs that work.

The mission
This is where a living tradition is carried to the next generation. It begins with the children.
